Eric A. Reeves

I founded Prospect Park in September 2023, after nearly two decades inside a multi-generational family enterprise.

At The Duchossois Group I served as Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Secretary. From 2014 I was also Managing Director and Head of Private Capital Investments at Duchossois Capital Management, overseeing private capital across a portfolio valued at 5 to 6 billion dollars. I was lead counsel on the 2021 sale of The Chamberlain Group to Blackstone for 5.1 billion dollars.

Along the way I helped set up a private trust company, served as its General Counsel and a director, and helped move the family’s capital from an operating business into an investment portfolio.

Most of all, I sat in the room. With the founder, the children, the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren, working through the questions that decide whether a family stays in business together: who decides, who owns, who leads next, and what the family is for.

Before Duchossois I was a partner at McDermott Will & Emery, working on corporate transactions. I later co-wrote a teaching case on the Duchossois family’s evolution, which is now taught as a class.

Today I advise a small number of families directly, in the United States and the United Kingdom. The work centres on governance, shareholder relations and conflict. When a transaction makes sense for a family, I can help with that too, directly and without a brokered process.
